It's Okay To Play With Your Food (if it's multigrain shapes Rice Krispies!)
I envy the Brits because they get to talk in spiffy accents, have daily teatime and eat crumpets, and because they get to use their Rice Krispies coupons on a brandy-new cereal: Rice Krispies Multigrain Shapes. To launch the cereal, Kellogg’s UK has teamed up with the Leo Burnett agency to make an oh-so-adorable commercial called “The Little Fish Who Loved The Stars.” If that title doesn’t win you over right away, the warm, jolly voice of the narrator certainly will.
In the commercial, a cute little fish looks to the sky and dreams of swimming among the stars – so he hops on a rocket and goes on the adventure of his dreams, only to find that he misses home. He happily returns to a bowl of milk where he swims with his fishy friends, and all is well.
I like the ad and I’m sure I’ll like the cereal if it ever hops the pond. I’m sure my nephews would love it even more – they are all about chicken noodle soup with the star shaped noodles and those cereal pieces shaped like the alphabet. Food that fosters the imagination and healthy eating habits is something I can totally get behind, and I hope that those of us in the US will be able to use Rice Krispies coupons to pick up this new cereal soon. If they keep the british storybook narration for their US marketing, that’ll be oaky with me – the commercial is totally like a bedtime story and I love it.
