Special K Cereal Goes Couture!
Special K is the
United Kingdom’s most popular cereal brand, with more than 120 million pounds
in sales each year (almost 200
million American dollars) – Kelloggs coupons must be very popular there! The
cereal is so popular that Kellogg’s UK has decided to think outside the bowl
and enter a market most breakfast companies never consider: fashion!
Special K teamed up with well-known British fashion brand Ted Baker to create a line of little red dresses and swimsuits to coordinate with the cereal’s well-known advertising campaign, in which the women advertising the cereal always wear iconic red dresses. Manchester-headquartered Kellogg’s is putting 1.6 million dollars into the new fashion line, which they hope will expand brand recognition.
One of the designs in the Special K collection is the Betsi, pictured below. Brits who want to be the first to sport this style will have to win it – Special K is giving one away every day to entrants in an on-box promo. Entrants will also have the chance to win red bathing suits and handbags designed by Ted Baker. After the contest is underway, the dress will be available for retail at a price of 225 dollars.
"Special K consumers are always asking how they can get their hands on a Special K dress and this partnership with Ted Baker has given us the opportunity to offer women the chance to do so with this fabulous designer dress promotion," Laura Nevison from Special K said:
Craig Smith, brand communication director at Ted Baker, added that “the tie-up is an excellent fit, giving us a great opportunity to showcase our womenswear and further develop our relationships with Special K's female audience."
I guess we’re to assume that men don’t eat Special K, then – they clearly aren’t the target for this promotion. The dress is really cute, but I wouldn’t fork out 225 dollars for it – too bad Kellogg’s coupons aren’t good on Kellogg’s fashions.
